Welcome to LK Musical Adventures, the online home of West Midlands based musician and music educator Luke Kelly.​ A uniquely trained musician, Luke holds a Diploma of Higher Education in Popular Music Studies from Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) and a Master of Arts Degree (with Distinction) in Creative Practice and Performance (Music) from the University of Wolverhampton; alongside membership to the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

With a considerable and eclectic performance career, Luke has performed as a guitarist in a variety of musical situations and has been part of original, event, cover and pit bands. He has enthralled audiences at weddings, festivals, and corporate events across the UK; entertaining notable clients including the British Army and performing at prominent music venues such as the O2 Academy Sheffield and the University of Wolverhampton at The Halls. Luke is also an accomplished Saxophonist and throughout this part of his musical journey has performed in Saxophone Quartets, Saxophone Ensembles, Concert Bands and Big Bands.

Alongside Luke's performance adventures, he also has over a decades worth of experience working as a Peripatetic Music Teacher (as part of a Local Authority's Wider Education Excellence Team). Throughout his teaching career, Luke has worked in 1 - 1, small group, whole class and afterschool ensemble teaching and managerial capacities, helping students throughout KS1 - KS5. On a personal note, Luke was very fortunate to cross paths with dedicated educators who were also fantastic musicians and he works tirelessly in his professional life to continue this ideal to help and support aspiring musicians.

Luke is also an avid composer and song writer. His most recent work, Resolute Protector was developed as part of a practice research project written for electric guitar quartet. This piece explored and fused elements of jazz praxis, classical programmatic thought and rock oriented electric guitar sounds alongside the compositional influence of music technology during the recording process.

 

Luke is currently performing with the acoustic duo Azure Skies, alongside developing his private teaching practice and online musical and teaching presence via his social media platforms.
