The Blues:

A major musical genre, the blues have been hugely influential on the whole of popular music. Emerging in the 1900s, this music style is firmly routed in North America and later the UK. There are many subgenres that can be historically and geographically located. These include: Country Blues, Classic Blues, Jump Blues, Chicago Blues and Blues Rock. Important historical figures include the three 'Kings' ... BB, Freddie & Albert.

Lesson 2: indie scene
Style: Indie/Britpop  Chords: Em/G/C

- We will learn how to play the chords: C, Em & G.

- Practise changing between chords.

- Learn how to play Indie Scene and understand the song structure.​

By the end of the lesson you will be able to perform Indie Scene with a backing track.

 

Indie / Brit Pop:

Emerging within independent music labels, this genre of music reached its commercial peak in 90's, with bands like Oasis and Blur dominating the charts. Generally, Indie bands utilise a traditional popular band set up: drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Well crafted, anthemic songs are the order of the day here!

Rock:

Rock is the broad label for the huge range of styles that have evolved out of rock 'n' roll.  Lots of bands and sub-genres could fall under this category, however, some of the big hitters include: Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd and The Who. The use of distorted guitar sounds, Les Paul guitars and Marshall amps are synonymous with this genre.
